♦ Recessive: Can either effect the base coat and all Mod Effect markings as well as one marking. If you do not effect the base coat, you can apply it to two markings.
♦ Dominant: Can effect the base and ALL markings.
♦ Dominant: Can effect the base and ALL markings.
♦ If you pick a color modifier for the base coat, then it has to be picked from the sliders provided below. However, if you apply it on a marking, it can be any shade of allowed colors in that modifiers range, not just from a slider!
♦ If a design has no markings, you either have to apply it to: Free Markings, Base Coat, Claws, Horns, Spikes, Flesh such as paw pads and gums/Tongue, or to special zone.
♦ Color modifier genes such as this one control the "Mod Effect" option on other markings. If the color mod is applied to the base coat, all markings with a Green Mod Effect square can be shades of the color modifier.
♦ Color modifiers for markings are allowed to pick from colors that are inbetween each other, such as picking yellow-orange shades for Citrine, or purple-blue colors for Amythest.
♦ Color modifiers have a lot of power and can control different parts of a design based on what is beneath them. If you use stained with a color modifier for example, a marking like dusted can share that color modifiers property on the portions placed on top of stained, while the rest of the dusted is left as a natural color.

♦ Cannot cover only a portion of the base coat - it must cover the whole base coat if applied. Same with markings.
