[Trade] The Shimmering Voyage, Part 2

"I assume that they gave you trouble dear?"

Lathair murmured softly, the sound almost akin to a deep purr coming from the large sapiere as he sat facing the ever shifting expanse of islands and clouds, watching the two of their younger travel mates play chase with themselves and anyone other they deemed fit. The small female sighed, the thick coat dragging on the ground with how exhausted she was, and came closer to sit next to the male, who in turn gently coiled his navy, thorned tail around her fluffy one in a sign of support and affection, one of his wings slowly draping down to her shoulders for a moment, but not staying as to not weigh on her.

"The captain had given me an earful, but thankfully the accommodations were more than bountiful. That said, we still have plenty of time before the shops close. Perhaps perusing the city at night may be to everyone's liking?"

"I would imagine Oberon would not have qualms, and neither do I, though I worry slightly for Chili..." The navy dragon commented, allowing the ravager to shake his wing fully off as she shook off the small amounts of dust and dirt off her neck and belly. "I had asked around just for this reason. Our accommodations are in one of the gryph districts, and as such most of the shopkeepers should be as well. Humans tend to not be as bountiful here as to avoid any... size related accidents, but we have been granted rooms there for exactly this reason." She explains in turn, and the golden horned sapiere nods in understanding, extending his wing fully to recall the two frolicking sapieres nearby.

Oberon, as expected, returned first. "Have the accommodations been negotiated for?" He inquires, landing a good distance away yet his confident but respectful voice carrying his question perfectly fine above the voice. Like his shadow, Chili moved in behind him, now that the light of the sun is fading her reds dimmed into a sanguine color befitting her demeanor. "I would hope within... properly staffed establishments." She adds in a shadowed hiss, her voice critical but not accusatory as she knew better than to insult her elder. Lathair's neck straightened up into a proper, dignified pose as he looked over them both as a mentor ought to, before nodding. "Thankfully, Winyara had managed to secure us adequate logging in the gryph districts. If you would like to accompany us, we would like to peruse the stalls in the night market."

The nigh white sapiere male turned to his mate, his icy eyes observing her reaction closely. Her wings shuffled in their folded form, a soothing behavior as he learned to tell, and she took her time to think it over. "We would." She answered with clear meaning, moving closer to her mate. The older male nodded, turning to his own mate to confirm once again with her and untangle their tails, carefully as not to cause any knots and pulled fur.

"Very well, we shall be off then."

With the dark blanket of nightfall gripping tightly onto the port city, the lights of the city shone ever so brighter, especially at the square that served as the night market at the time. The streets were spacious, illuminated with dozens upon dozens of variously colored magic crystals as each stall fought to be the most eye catching, the most interesting and unique to the passing foreigners. Variously shaped and colored gryphs competed in being the most interesting as well, painting their bodies to match their wares and braiding beads and streaks into their fur to appear even more exotic. Humans were here or there, most usually on the backs of the gryphs and dragons, but in the huge expanse of the square and various wares they were easy to miss. The entire area murmured with growls and purrs and chirps and chatter, the city coming to life just as the world fell into slumber.

"Have you found anything that interests you?" Lathair asked, leaning over Winyara's shoulder as she all but buried herself in various herbs, some familiar to him, some not. The white, owl faced gryph that ran it seemed nearly spooked at the sheer intensity of her stare as she picked through each leaf and flower of the herbs on display. "There are so many plants here that I don't recognize. I ought to visit the library to gather more knowledge." She replied, never breaking eye contact with a particular plant. The gryph tried to lean in to explain, but with breakneck speed she grabbed it with one of her talons and almost stabbed them with it as she inquired.

"What are these for?"

On the other side of the market, the younger duo perused the more... interesting shops. Armors, weapons, magical trinkets, everything a normal adventuring party may need. And also, the perfect place to find oneself some mischief. The crimson eyes of the female in particular glinted in search of just a perfect target, setting on a gray, fluffy tailed gryph at one of the food stands. She only needed nod at her mate and at once he understood, giving her a playful poke with the antlers as the two split, him towards the front of the shop, and her towards the back.

As he came close to the small grill, the white dragon exhaled, the frosty breath chilling the fire into silence yet not alerting the thick furred creature to what had happened. Confused, the gryph attempted to light it again, but as soon as they would do so, he'd turn it off again. Meanwhile, Chili had sneaked herself at the back of the tent, her head poking through the curtain just enough to let her fire breath light the gryph's tail on fire. However, to her initial amusement, the gryph did not notice the fire slowly spreading on their tail, a sentiment that slowly waned as it moved it's on fire tail closer and closer to Oberon's, the male too busy with poking fun to notice.

In the end, two tails were singed that night.
