The Below or The Aether exists in tandem with the Above world of Empyrean, a mirror image of our own but plagued in darkness. It is said evil originates there, and that it is a vile and mysterious place. Most humans and other beings will not ever be able to freely travel there, especially if they are not soul-bonded to a Drake capable of traveling between the two. Dragons are able to move between worlds and pull power and magic from the abundance The Below has to offer. Though most prefer to remain in the Above world with their human companions, there are some that make a permanent residence in the mirror world. Often times those dragons are Sinister in nature and prefer solitude over the companionship of a flight. They are also the most magically powerful and inclined, being more connected to this mirror world than their brothers and sisters.

Things you will find in The Below:

1. Tattered structures reminiscent of those in The Above
2. Constant dusk/night, hazy atmosphere.
3. Creatures warped and changed into mutated versions of themselves, usually hostile.
4. Magical fluctuations and disturbances.
5. Small and very rare (like super rare) settlements among the darkness and debris.

Things you will not find in The Below:

1. Healthy and non-poisonous vegetation.
2. Cute fluffy critters and singing birds.
3. Large human settlements and cities.
4. Technology of any kind.
5. The sun.
