Hi, I'm a big ho for appaloosa and I feel like it's severely underated in the ARPG world where there is SO MANY variants of appaloosa

There's so much potential for appaloosa and.. I don't see enough of appy representation within ARPGs and some of these could look SUPER neat on a dragon! o:

I think my biggest worry here is that appaloosa will look like painted... Perhaps we should combine the markings? I'm unsure. A lot of these seem like what tobiano/inkwell and painted can do.

Xiunus has leopard, fewspot, and snowcapped appaloosa and they're all sufficiently distinct as markings. I'd say, if you're looking to add more, they make for decent variety! Fewspot and Leopard appaloosa are one of those whole-design covering markings though, so they may be something you'd want a bit less of

Hmm having hard time pic piebald (tobiano) and inkwell looking like appys. (I been in few Artrpg horse groups and have learn of the variants of appaloosa) seeing as appy is more spots then patch of colour. I don't see why not appy can be like any variants of appaloosa. :)

Btw Cryptid tobiano is kinda paint horse marking and if one to get tobiano. not sure how it look like appy. sorry i don't maen to come off rude as i seen a lot of tobiano but if your ref to the ones with tiny spots there markings have name.
On some tobiano horses there may be small colored spots, commonly called ink spots, paw prints or cat tracks, in the white patches. These are usually small and round and may occur in groups.

It's ok! I think a lot of what I mean is that all of these examples shown to me are things that you c an do with OUR versions of tobi/inkwell/painted.

Snowflake, for example, is more of a dusted/shaped combo (even just shaped). There's no point in making a whole other marking to cover it when shaped can do it just fine.

Adding in things like ink spots, paw prints/cat tracks in the white patches is 100% ok to do in tobiano, inkwell, and painted! There's no rule against it, we just never considered it to be a feature. So consider it allowed :)
I understand horse marking are a certain way, but because they are very similar in the big picture, it isn't worth making a bunch of different markings to cover them, when they can be done, or allowed to be done, with the markings we have.

If there are ideas that aren't very well covered in this thread, please show me! I'd love to keep appy as it's own thing, but as it stands right now it's just restrictive Painted :(

i am not sure if there is any ideas i can think or if Nekoura can think of. Just for me when i see appy all i think about are the app markings seen on horses and same with tobiano.

I think in the end.. I'd mostly just love to see Leopard appaloosa be a feature of the gene in SB, I did think it over and yes a lot can be achieved by using inked or tobiano in combination, and Semi-Leopard as it stands is technically already permitted.

I don't see many other appaloosa genes being used in other ARPGs outside of equine breeds, which is understandable because it takes special people to try and understand what the hekk is going on with appaloosa x'D and still no two people can agree on how it actually works or what's actually going on.

But still, maybe just considering leopard appaloosa might be an idea? Plus.. who wouldn't want a dalmation/leopard appy dragon? x'D
